About post-16
At Brian Jackson College we provide a supportive and inspiring environment where every student can thrive. Our post 16 provision in Heckmondwike offers a truly bespoke educational experience tailored to each students interests, needs and future aspirations.
Students benefit from excellent facilities designed to enhance practical learning. Our vocational training areas include a fully equipped construction workshop for skills such as plumbing, joinery and decorating, and a motor vehicle maintenance area where learners gain hands on experience and the knowledge needed for careers in the automotive industry.
In addition, students develop essential life skills in our dedicated kitchen, learning to cook, understand healthy eating and build confidence in numeracy and literacy through real world tasks.
To prepare students for the world beyond the college, we actively source work experience placements that complement their studies, giving them valuable insight into the workplace and helping them take the next step toward employment or further training.
