IMPROVING LIVES, INSPIRING CHANGE
About Fresh Futures
Brian Jackson College, named after our founder, is an alternative education school delivered by Fresh Futures.
Fresh Futures is a regional charity with over 50 years of experience supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people, and their families. Our vision is for all children, young people and their families to have opportunities for a better life, now and in the future.
We have three strategic objectives:
- To improve children’s and young people’s lives by providing opportunities to enable them to achieve a positive destination that is right for them
- To empower families and significant adults to make positive choices so children and young people live healthy and happy lives
- To work within communities to support children, young people and their families and advocate for them
Our work is Fresh Futures is proud to deliver a diverse and effective range of services designed to support and empower our service beneficiaries. Read on to find out the difference services we deliver alongside Brian Jackson College
Our Family Time service operates as a child contact centre, offering a safe, welcoming space for children to re-establish relationships with relatives when contact has been lost or limited. This service plays a crucial role in rebuilding family bonds.
Through our Elevate programme, we support 18–25-year-olds in two key ways: weekly peer-led drop-ins to build confidence and reduce isolation, and tailored employability programmes that prepare young people for work through holistic, wraparound support that builds their confidence and life skills.
We promote early years health through the distribution of vitamins, fresh fruit, and vegetables to pregnant women and families with children under five — ensuring every child has the best possible start.
Safety at home is another priority. Our home safety initiative provides and installs essential safety equipment in the homes of eligible families, reducing the risk of preventable accidents and giving parents peace of mind.
Our Community Anchor work supports sustainability within the third sector in North Kirklees. We help individuals and groups develop community-led activities, access funding, write policies, plan delivery, and build networks — supporting everything from grassroots ideas to established organisations.
Our Families Together initiative brings the voices of families in North Kirklees to the forefront. With over 110 partners across sectors, we host local events, share learning, and connect directly with families. So far, our Community Champions have engaged with over 1,500 families—over half of whom were supported into vital services.
Finally, we lead powerful local health awareness campaigns on issues like Covid-19, mental health, diabetes, and cancer. Delivered through our Community Champions, these campaigns offer trusted, hands-on support in GP surgeries, community settings, and homes.
Through these diverse range of services which sit alongside Brain Jackson College to provide holistic and wraparound support, we work directly with disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and their families to improve lives and inspire change.
